Frequently Asked Questions

  • The office is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After 5:00PM, calls are automatically answered by our voicemail system. For emergencies, press 1 to be connected to our after-hours answering service.

  • • Upon arrival at the clinic you may use either:

    ◦ The horseshoe driveway with the Myhre Equine sign

    ◦ Continue to the driveway just beyond the shrubbery at the far end of the building.

    ◦ Do not drive around the back of the building as most truck/trailer combinations will not make the tight, sharp turn.

    • The barn doors are at the right side of the barn when faceing it from the road.

    • Please leave your horse on the trailer and proceed to the office which is located at the opposite end of the building (the left side). After checking in, our staff will help you unload and come into the barn.

  • • Weekdays: 9am to 4pm.

    • Weekends: By appointment and are generally from 9:00-10:00 AM and from 3:00-4:00 PM. Please call the office to set up your visit.

  • • Bring enough grain, and medications/supplements (if applicable) for your horse’s stay. It is always better to bring extra. We have our own supply of hay, grain (Purina products) and we provide pine shavings for bedding. You are welcome to bring your own hay and bedding if your horse has specific needs.

    • Your horse should have a current negative coggins prior to their visit.

  • • Full payment is due before leaving with your horse. While we do not offer payment plans, but we currently accept.

    • If your horse will be staying at MEC, a deposit for the estimated minimum cost is required.

  • The barn is heated and generally maintains a temperature around 50°F in winter, only dropping lower during extreme cold period. Please bring blankets for your horse based on these temperatures.

  • • Enter the first driveway before the sign which is lined with maple trees. Turn left at the fork and proceed to the barn on your left.

    • Please do not unload your horse. Wait for the technician to show you to the designated stall.

  • • Your horse will be admitted the day before the scheduled scan to be weighed and assessed. The radioactive medication will be ordered for the scan the next day.

    • Due to regulations. your horse will be required to stay for 24 hours after the radiopharmaceutical has been administered.

  • • We recommend admitting your horse the day before their procedure to be fasted at the clinic. If you choose not to admit them the day before, you must fast them at home for a minimum of 12 hours before their appointment. Your horse should still have free access to water during fasting.
